Irish Seaweed Consultancy Ltd. (ISC), Ireland's only consultancy specialising in seaweeds, has partnered with SEA-SENSE to pilot the monitoring system at their operations in Cashel, County Galway. ISC brings over twenty years of applied macroalgal research to inform real-world system requirements.
The SEA-SENSE sensor modules have entered laboratory testing at Synchro SRL's facilities. Initial tests focus on measurement accuracy and stability for water temperature, pH, and light intensity under controlled conditions.
Team members presented the SEA-SENSE monitoring concept at a European aquaculture innovation workshop, sharing the project's approach to NGSI-LD-based environmental monitoring for seaweed cultivation.
The SEA-SENSE project has formally started under the I3-4-SEAWEED programme, funded by the European Union. The project team at Synchro SRL has begun work on system requirements, sensor specification, and the NGSI-LD data model design.
